TIMES NEWS NETWORK

Chennai: A man posing as an employee of Anna University cheated a leading vessel store in Park Town of ₹25,000 after promising old vessels from the university canteen.

The man who gave his name as Jayaprakash arrived at the showroom and told Senthil Kumar, an employee, of the offer. After informing his employer, Senthil went with the man to the university where he was shown the utensils meant for ‘sale’ lined up outside the canteen.

Senthil, a 40 year-old from Old Washermenpet, after an evaluation gave ₹25,000 to Jayaprakash. The man asked Senthil to wait while he went inside the canteen to get a receipt for the money. When hedid not return for a long time, Senthil went inside the facility and told the staff he had come looking for Jayaprakash. When the workers there told him there was no one by that name at the place, Senthil realised that he had been conned and lodged a complaint with the Kotturpuram police.

The police registered a case and launched a hunt.
