Several leaders felicitated G. Viswanathan, Chancellor of Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), on his 80th birthday on Sunday.
Former Minister Panruti S. Ramachandran called upon Mr. Viswanathan to unite all Tamils in the world. As a prominent educationist, he was the right person to unite the Tamils of the world, transcending religious, caste and other barriers, he said.
Several educationists and politicians felicitated Mr. Viswanathan. Commercial Taxes Minister K.C. Veeramani released the book, Viyarvaiyin Vetri . A.C. Shanmugam, president of Pudhiya Needhi Katchi, received the first copy. About Rs. 15 lakh was donated to the Universal Higher Education Trust on the occasion.
