No stamping of cabin bags at Chennai airport from 
June 1

Domestic passengers departing from Chennai airport will not have to get their cabin bags stamped from June 1.The move comes after the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) sought an end to the practice of tagging cabin bags at airline check-in counters and stamping them in the security check area.
Chennai airport is yet to get an official communication but reports from New Delhi quoted a top Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) official as saying that the new system will be in place at Chennai.
A senior Chennai airport official said, “A one-week trial was conducted in the first we ek of May and a report was submitted. We are yet to get an order to implement it but, in all likelihood, tags for cabin baggage will be done away with from June.“
Officials at Chennai airport had strengthened the closed-circuit television (CCTV) coverage in the terminal, especially in the security hold area, as part of their preparations to move towards tag-free baggage checks for domestic passengers.
Jaipur, Lucknow, Patna, Thiruvananthapuram and Guwahati airports also will not have stamping of cabin bags from June 1.
CISF had already stopped stamping of cabin baggage in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Kochi from April 1.
