138 awarded medals by Anna varsity

Science and technology can play a major role in bringing about social and economic change, said K. Vijayraghavan, Principal Scientific Advisor, Government of India.

Speaking at the 39th convocation of Anna University, Prof. Vijayraghavan said it was not possible for any country to develop, by exploiting other countries or its own environment. “India has a deep tradition of democracy, tradition, equality, social inclusion and respect, which is why it is a challenge to hunt for a solution, ” he said.

Nearly 138 graduates from the Bachelor of Engineering, Technology and Architecture received their awards and medals.

As many as 1.57 lakh students were awarded degrees in absentia. Vice-chancellor M.K. Surappa and Governor Banwarilal Purohit was present.
