Bengaluru doc did 682 sex-change operations

A woman doctor from Bengaluru has allegedly performed 682 sex-change operations in Bengaluru over the past three years. According to Mandya police investigating the racket unearthed recently, the doctor is yet to be arrested as she fell unconscious during questioning and is now recovering.

Police are searching for her accomplices, including a transgender who would bring young boys for the operation.

Mandya SP Shiva Prakash Devaraju confirmed that as per preliminary information gleaned from the doctor, she performed 682 operations and charged around Rs 1.25 lakh for each.

According to KR pet police, in February, the grandmother of a 16-year-old boy and resident of the town, complained to them that her grandson was missing. In October, a few locals saw him at KR Pet Circle. He was dressed like a woman. Immediately, they alerted the family and police.

Police said eight persons have been arrested so far. Among them are three transgenders, three who underwent the sex-change operation and two who had sex with the boy who went missing and later found.
