LUCKNOW: In a meeting with governor Ram Naik, representatives from National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) stressed need for increasing term of vice-chancellors in state university. The NAAC team batted for a five-year term of office for VCs against the current three year period.
The NAAC team is in the city to hold an inspection of the B R Ambedkar University. The team members cited shortage of teaching faculty in the higher education sector to reason their arguments besides quoting University Grants Commission recommendations in this regard.
In response, Governor Ram Naik also acknowledged the idea and recalled that the demand had surfaced in a meeting of vice-chancellors held in January. He also assured to examine the idea in detail and act in the interest of educational institutions.
