Sambalpur varsity defers MBBS exams

BHUBANESWAR: Sambalpur University had to reschedule MBBS examinations for two of its affiliated colleges because question papers could not reach the institutions on time.

The move has drawn sharp criticism from students.

Around 250 second-year MBBS students of Veer Surendra Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VSSIMS), Burla, and Hi-Tech Medical College and Hospital, Rourkela, were scheduled to appear for microbiology Paper I on March 21 and Paper II on March 25.

"The exam for microbiology Paper I will be now held on April 13 while the test for Paper II will be held on April 17," said controller of examinations of Sambalpur University Sisir Swain. Tests of other papers will be held according to the earlier schedule, he said.

"We were prepared to appear for the exams. But the schedule was altered in the last moment, which is de-motivating," said a student of VSSIMS. The examinations are being held at two centres, Municipal College, Rourkela and VSSIMS.
