17,845 appear for TNTET
Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation operated special buses to the centres
A total of 17,845 candidates, aspiring for graduate teachers in
government schools, appeared for the Tamil Nadu Teachers Eligibility
Test (TNTET) in the two districts on Sunday.
In Ramanathapuram district, 9,127 candidates appeared for the paper II eligibility test, conducted by the Teachers Recruitment Board. The tests were held in 12 centres amid tight vigil. A total of 308 candidates were absent.
The district administration, coordinating with the education department made arrangements for the examinations, held in the two education districts of Paramakudi and Ramanathapuram.
Candidates were allowed to enter the examination centres after thorough check up with the help of police personnel. Basic facilities such as drinking water and uninterrupted power supply were ensured at the centres.
Differently abled candidates were allotted centres in the ground floor with ramp facility and about 30 visually impaired candidates took the examinations with the help of scribes. The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation operated special buses to the centres for the benefit of the candidates.
Chief Educational Officer K. Jayakannu inspected the arrangements.
In Sivaganga district, 8,718 candidates appeared for the test in more than ten centres, while 325 candidates absented. Mr Selvaraj, joint director, Teachers recruitment board inspected the examination centres with CEO Senthivel Murugan.
