Secretariat employee commits suicide
A 35-year-old government official committed suicide at his residence in Arputham Nagar, West Tambaram, on Friday night.
Police said the victim, Deepan Chakravarthy, was an assistant section officer in the agriculture department at the Secretariat.
He was living with his mother Vanita, wife Sudha (30) and two children.
After reaching home on Friday evening, Chakravarthy locked himself in his room till 8.30 p.m.
His mother and wife repeatedly knocked on the door but he did not respond.
They called their neighbours who broke down the door and found Chakravarthy hanging from the ceiling fan. A case has been filed.
