Reddy had listed nearly Rs 300cr given as gratification
Chennai:

Sand mining baron Sekhar Reddy's diary , now in the possession of I-T officials, is likely to give sleepless nights to the Edappadi Palaniswamy government. An I-T official said the department has sent to Tamil Nadu chief secretary Girija Vaidyanathan a letter with names of ministers, MLAs and senior members of the state bureaucracy based on diary notings made by Reddy on money disbursements running into several hundred crores of rupees.

The I-T report has sought action against ministers and officials, whose names fig ure in the diary . I-T sources told TOI that the diary, seized during raids on Reddy's residence last November, contained a mine of information on his “dealings“ allegedly with ministers and senior bureaucrats. Efforts to talk to government officials proved futile as they remained tight-lipped. “We sent a letter to the chief secretary with names of beneficiaries as mentioned in Reddy's diary . We wanted the government to take action against these people through its vigilance department,“ said a senior I-T official on the condition of anonymity .The department refused to mention the names against whom it sought action.

“The sand mining baron has meticulously listed more than `300 crore given to ministers, MLAs and senior bureaucrats as gratification for contracts and benefits received from the government,“ said the official. On Friday ED officials attached `37 crore worth of property and assets belonging to Reddy as he could not properly account the cash seized from his residence and other places after demonetisation was announced on November 8. I-T sleuths seized `140 crore in new `2,000 notes and old notes of `500 and `1,000.

“Based on Reddy's diary notings we conducted searches at residences and offices of former chief secretary Rama Mohana Rao and state health minister C Vijayabaskar. The raids on December 27, 2016 were conducted to corroborate the names mentioned by Reddy as recipients. Of the four recipients, three, barring Rao, accepted having financial dealings with Reddy ,“ said the official.

Vijayabaskar, the official said, was under I-T radar since Reddy's diary was seized. “The minister and his associates were on our watch list since Reddy and two others were raided,“ he said.
Unlike other beneficiaries, Reddy maintained a detailed account of the benefits he showered on the ministers, officials and others, including the private secretaries of ministers.
