PWD warns on illegal M-sand sale

The public works department on Thursday warned of legal action against manufacturers of illegal Msand – crushed stone sand – in Tamil Nadu.
As an alternative to river sand, the state government is promoting manufactured sand for construction. An official release from the department said, “It has been requested to procure sand from units that have obtained certification of quality of M-sand from a technical expert committee under the department. M-sand from units that lack certification should not be used.” “So far, the technical expert committee has extended certification to 216 units in the state. It has been conveyed to all stakeholders,” the release said. TNN
