Kancheepuram hospital an NBE centre

 Only private hospitals have this facility

The Government District Headquarters Hospital, Kancheepuram, has been made a National Board of Examinations centre. The hospital, selected among the 11 government hospitals in the State, will offer a Diplomate (DNB course) that is equal to the post graduate degrees of the medical universities.
The other 10 government district or taluk headquarters hospitals, where the DNB courses to be offered include, Cuddalore, Chidambaram, Dindigul, Ramanathapuram, Virudhunagar, Kovilpatti, Erode, Tirupur, Pattukottai and Mayiladuthurai.

At present, only private hospitals/medical research centres have been recognised by the NBE for conducting these courses, offered in 54 disciplines. While DNB courses are offered in 12 disciplines, the DNB (super speciality) courses are available in 13 disciplines at 37 private institutions in Tamil Nadu.

With addition of 11 more government hospitals to offer DNB courses, the number of institutions is set to increase to 48.

Qualifications

As far as the seats sanctioned by the NBE in the 37 private institutions, 72 seats are available in DNB courses for which the applicant should have completed MBBS course with the one-year internship, and 65 seats in the DNB (super speciality) courses, for which the applicant should have completed MD/MS degree.
