Passengers hit as airline cancels flight

CHENNAI, JULY 05, 2018 00:00 IST

Nearly 80 passengers who were to fly to Port Blair were stranded at the Chennai airport as Air India cancelled the service. The flight that had to depart around 10 a.m. was cancelled for operational reasons, sources said. Passengers complained about the cancellation.

Tamilisai’s intervention

Around the same time, BJP state president Tamilisai Soundararajan came to the airport to meet the party’s national general secretary in-charge of Tamil Nadu P. Muralidhar Rao.

She claimed that the airline had agreed to provide accommodation for the passengers after her intervention. She said she had aired her concerns to Air India officials, who subsequently agreed to arrange accommodation and a flight for the 80 passengers.

They will leave in another flight on Thursday morning.
