University of Madras addresses grievances
A total of 192 grievances redressed
In an attempt to address academic grievances of students, the University of Madras conducted a day-long camp on Monday. Students enrolled in the affiliate colleges of the university as well as the institute of distance education attended the camp.
P. Duraisamy, Vice Chancellor, said a number of students had come to procure their mark sheets and degree certificates.
“The convocation will be held soon. The university has opened up an online system ahead of the camp so that students could register for documents they needed and this was done to facilitate students who live away from the city,” he said.
Around 200 students had submitted online requests for documents ahead of the camp. Mr. Duraisamy said the university was working towards making the online system available throughout the year so that students could register for documents they needed and then collect it from the campus.
At the end of the camp, as many as 192 grievances were redressed. Over 100 candidates received their provisional certificates, degree certificates, statement of marks and consolidated statement of marks from the Vice- Chancellor in person.
The last grievance redressal camp for students was held in August 2016.
