Jayalalithaa declares assets worth Rs. 117 crore

Every time Chief Minister Jayalalithaa declares her wealth, it doubles.

As on Friday, the AIADMK supremo has declared assets worth Rs 117.13 crore. She has movable assets worth Rs. 45.04 crore and immovable assets worth Rs.72.09 crore.

When she filed the affidavit in Srirangam for the 2011 Assembly elections, she declared assets worth Rs 51.40 crore, against Rs 24.7 crore in 2006.

In the affidavit she furnished before the Returning Officer on Friday along with the nomination papers to contest the R.K. Nagar by-elections, Ms. Jayalalithaa stated that her deposits amounted to Rs. 9.80 crore. She had invested Rs 31.68 crore in five firms, including Kodand Estate, as a partner.

‘Veda Nilayam’

The current market value of residential building ‘Veda Nilayam’, 81, Poes Garden in S.No1567 of Teynampet Village, measuring an area of 10 grounds equalling 24,000 sqft with a built-up area of 21,662 sq ft, is Rs.43.96 crore. The property was purchased by Ms. Jayalalithaa and her mother on July 15, 1967 at a cost of Rs. 1.32 lakh. She owns commercial buildings in four places including Poes Garden in Chennai and Sri Nagar Colony, Hyderabad. The current market value of Ms. Jayalalithaa’s agricultural land measuring 14.5 acres in Jeedimetla Village in Ranga Reddy District in Hyderabad, Telangana, is Rs. 14.44 crore.

Nine vehicles, including two Toyota Prado SUVs, a 1980 model Ambassador car and 1990 model Contessa have a current market value of Rs.42.25 lakh.

Gold articles weighing 21280.300 grams seized by the police were lying with the Treasury, Karnataka Government (in the DA case).

Therefore the value could not be ascertained, she said.

In 2013-2014, the total income shown as per the income tax returns filed by her is Rs. 33.32 lakh.

Ms. Jayalalithaa has no dependents.
