341 institutions offered courses without AICTE approval: govt

341 institutions have offered courses without the approval of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the government today said.
In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for HRD Mahendra Nath Pandey said that institutes offering admission without AICTE approval are issued show cause notice and directed for closing down such unapproved course.
"If such an institute fails to comply with the direction of AICTE, its name is added to AICTE's unapproved institution," the minister said adding the concerned state is also informed for taking suitable action.
In a written response to another question, Pandey said that the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) Aayog has prepared a concept note and a road map on setting up of foreign university campuses in India.
