Now access academic certificates online

Pune: In a move to go digital, the University Grants Commission (UGC) published a notification on the formation of a National Academic Depository (NAD), which will serve as an online storehouse of academic awards such as degrees, diplomas, certificates and mark sheets issued by the academic institution, boards and eligibility assessment bodies in a digital format.

NAD will be available online 24x7 and will help in validating the document’s authenticity, their safe storage and easy retrieval.

Speaking about the initiative, Dhanashree Kumbhar, a first-year postgraduate student from the city, said that it will ease the burden of keeping the physical copy of the certificate safe.

“This will help us access all our certificates from anywhere in the world. It will also help the institutes to send the certificates as soon as they are ready. Till now, we had to stand in queue and fill numerous forms to get our degrees. It will also be easier to retrieve any document if misplaced,” said Kumbhar.

Echoing similar sentiments, MD Lawrence, Principal of Marathwada Mitra Mandal College of Commerce (MMCC), said the approach is holistic for every stakeholder. “This depository will help the employers, students and institutes in accessing the necessary and relevant documents,” he said.
