Rs 1 lakh worth gold, silver stolen from judge’s house in TN

CUDDALORE: Burglars struck at the ancestral house of a judge in Cuddalore district and disappeared with gold jewellery and silver items worth Rs 1 lakh and Rs 5,000 in cash.

The issue came to light when the principal district judge of the family court, Madras high court campus, A K A Rahmaan reached his ancestral house at Unnamalai Chettychavadi in the district on Saturday night to spend Diwali holidays.

He was shocked to find the main door open. On thorough search, he found that two sovereigns of gold jewellery, silver items and Rs 5,000 in cash were missing from an almirah.

The Nellikuppam police were investigating.
