21 children rescued from illegal home in TN

CHENNAI: The district child protection unit in Kancheepuram rescued 21 children from an illegal home in Old Perungalathur on Friday.
The children, including 12 girls, were found living in a cramped space without any documents on their backgrounds. The proprietor of the home, Anbu Karangal, lived with the children.
All the children - aged between 6 and 15 years - were produced before the child welfare committee.

"We directed a medical examination of the older girls as we suspect abuse," said Zaheeruddin Mohamad, CWC member in Kancheepuram.
While the girls were sent to a licensed children's home in Kancheepuram, the boys were sent to the government reception home in Athur, Chengalpet.
