Taking serious view of not making compliance of orders, besides provided replies filed under the Right to Information (RTI) Act, Information Commissioner, Vijay Shankar Sharma, imposed a fine of over a lakh rupees on city magistrate of Kanpur city, on Wednesday. Confirming of the above here on Wednesday afternoon, Sharma, said that despite of several reminders and warning, the city magistrate of Kanpur, Ashutosh Mohan Agnihotri, who is also RTI officer, neither gave reply to his queries, nor he appeared before him during the hearing. Sharma said that taking the negligent approach of the officer very seriously, he had imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 each in four separate matters while in one another, he slapped a fine of Rs 12,500 on the same officer.
Sharma claimed that besides the city magistrate, he also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on District Social Welfare officer of Kanpur. Sharma also issued warning to Nagar Ayukata of Kanpur, Executive Engineer of Kanpur Electric Supply, Secretary of Power Distribution Corporation of Kanpur and in three other matters taken up on Wednesday.
