With a large number of students aspiring to pursue courses in medicine, most colleges in the country have tough entrance examinations along with high eligibility criteria. Adding to that is the financial aspect of this programme, which is a burden to most parents.
Presenting a possible alternative are universities participating in the Russian Education Fair being held at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture. Most of them expect a minimum of 50% marks in relevant subjects.
The two-day education fair showcases a range of Russian government institutions, specialising in medicine and engineering. Some of the participating universities include People’s Friendship University, Kazan Federal University and Volgograd State Medical University. The fair provides direct counselling, spot admissions, visa and safety information along with a 30-day preparation course on language and culture.
“Students get international exposure to practical learning methods with individual attention,” says Krishna Raj, alumnus of People’s Friendship University.
Students from the Tamil medium are also eligible to apply. “The cost of higher education in Russia is relatively less because it is subsidised by the Russian government. Also, there are a wide range of courses in English, which makes it easy for the students from India,” said Sviatoslav A. Timashev from The Ural Federal University.
The education fair will be on from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
