Authorities seal two buildings deviating from approved plan in Chennai

CHENNAI: Two under construction buildings were sealed by the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) on Tuesday for violating the planning permission at George Townand Royapettah. The two buildings situated at Thambu Chetty Street in George Town area and West Cott Road at Royapettah had constructed an additional floor deviating from the approved plan, official sources said.
According to the sources, the construction at George Town had an extra floor, while the builder had obtained permission only for a ground plus one floor from the Greater Chennai Corporation. The CMDA has been earmarked 30 streets in the George Town area for initiating action against the violators, who were carrying out constructions beyond the approved plan. The building at Royapettah had eight floors even as permission was given only for constructing seven floors, sources added.
