Special teams formed to nab culprits
A doctor working in a corporate hospital suffered burns in an acid attack late on Tuesday night.
Dr. Balaji Bushan Patnaik, a paediatrician, was returning home after duty in his car when a bike hit his vehicle from behind. When he got down from the car to find out whether there was any damage to the vehicle, one of the three youths riding the motorcycle allegedly threw acid on his face. The youths immediately sped away after the incident.
He was admitted to a corporate hospital where he is undergoing treatment. The 35-year-old doctor is a native of Cuttack. Senior police officials were shaken as this is the first such incident in the recent past. Meanwhile, the police formed teams to check all exit routes in the city to nab the culprits.
