NRI students and parents demand NEET exemptions

DECCAN CHRONICLE.
Hyderabad: Parents of NRI students, wishing to join medicine and dental courses in the country, want to get exemption from NEET qualification provision even as the Supreme Court is set to hear a related case on January 30.

Ten NRI students who joined Mediciti Institute of Medical Sciences in Ranga Reddy district were told by government authorities that they cannot pursue study, they having failed to qualify in NEET.

Mr Rao, who returned from Australia, said that NRI students study abroad and the plus two syllabuses do not fully match with Indian syllabus.

“Our children did not get enough time to prepare for the exam. We are paying up to Rs 22 lakh as fees,” he said.
