DA case verdict: When AIADMK men celebrated Jayalalithaa’s conviction
TOICHENNAI: It may be an irony. When several AIADMK men were celebrating the conviction of party general secretary V K Sasikala in the disproportionate assets case, they were in fact celebrating the conviction of their own beloved late leader J Jayalalithaa.
The Valentine's Day shocker of the Supreme Court to the AIADMK and its general secretary V K Sasikala, in fact, has restored the conviction of Jayalalithaa, too, in the corruption case.
Though the sentence abates since she died on December 5 during the pendency of the case, the Rs 100-crore fine imposed on her must be paid and the attached properties standing in her name must be seized and taken over.
However, it was an amusing site to behold AIADMK party men bursting crackers and distributing sweets on Tuesday in celebration of the apex court judgment.
Of course, the verdict has immediate and direct relevance to and impact on only Sasikala who had got herself elected as party general secretary and set her eyes on chief minister.
