JNTU Vice-Chancellor M Sarcar, two others die in car crash in Anantapur

VIJAYAWADA: In a ghastly road accident, JNTU Anantapur vice chancellor MMM Sarcar and two others, including his driver, died on Wednesday evening.
The incident happened near Gajarampalle of Pamidi Mandal in Anantapur district, around 35 km from the district headquarters. Sarcar (64) and his personal assistant K Baba Fakruddin (42) were on their way to Kurnool to participate in a programme at the G Pulla Reddy College of Engineering, when a tyre of the vehicle burst and the driver lost control, ramming into a lorry coming from the opposite direction.
The impact of the collision was such that the front portion of the car got fully mangled. The trio died on the spot. The driver had got married just a week ago.
On being alerted police along with medical emergency teams rushed to the spot. District Collector Kona Sasidhar, SP V Rajasekhara Babu along with JNTU-A officials also rushed to the spot
Crane and earth movers were employed to separate the wreckage and remove the bodies from it. The incident led to traffic jam for couple of hours on the highway. Within a couple of hours of the incident, students and teachers flocked the area and police had tough time controlling them.
A native of Visakhapatnam, Sarcar is survived by his wife Sultana, son and two daughters. The bodies were handed over to relatives after autopsy.
Governor ESL Narasimhan, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, I&PR Minister Palle Raghunath Reddy and several others condoled the deaths.
